Le Fauvres Art Sale / Spring Concerts

Le Fauvres Art Sale and State Art Competition Awards

Lucia Nelson from the NWCC Art Department discusses the annual Le Fauvres Art Sale, where students showcase and sell original artwork—ranging from ceramics and sculpture to photography, painting, jewelry, and graphic design. Nelson also shares that NWCC earned the most awards of any school at the Mississippi community college state art competition, including the Best in Show honor.

Concert Season at the Heindl Center

Director of Bands Tim Garrett previews a full lineup of spring music events, including:

  • Steel Drum and Percussion Ensemble – April 24 at 7:00 p.m.
  • Jazz Band Concerts (Jazz I and II) – April 28 at 7:00 p.m.
  • Spring Concert Band Performance – May 2 at 7:00 p.m.

These concerts, held at the Heindl Center for the Performing Arts, highlight the musical excellence of NWCC students. Garrett also discusses music scholarships, program growth, and recruitment efforts for the 2025 Ranger Marching Band.

Spring Sports Update and Postseason Outlook

  • Baseball: NWCC hosts a doubleheader vs. Itawamba with MACCC playoff implications. The Rangers are 28-17 overall and 11-13 in conference play.
  • Softball: Ranked No. 13 nationally, NWCC softball stands at 38-8 and 19-7 in the MACCC. They close the regular season with Sophomore Day against East Central on April 26.
  • Men’s Tennis: After a 10-4 regular season, the nationally ranked team is competing in the NJCAA Region 23 Championships against Copiah-Lincoln.
  • Rodeo: The Ranger Rodeo begins April 24 and runs through April 26 at the Lawrence Bud Young Arena. This NIRA Ozark Region finale features top student-athletes and championship implications.
