Dr. Courtney McMullen / Dr. Blake Bostick

On this episode of the Ranger Hour Podcast, host Gary Darby sits down with Dr. Courtney McMullen, the new director of the Associate Degree Nursing Program at Northwest Mississippi Community College. A proud graduate of Northwest herself, Dr. McMullen shares her journey from student to faculty member, and now to program director. She discusses the rigorous training that has made “Northwest nurses” highly sought after across the region, her passion for combining teaching and healthcare, and the opportunities available at the new Ranger Center in Southaven. Prospective students and faculty alike will find inspiration in her story of leadership, commitment, and service to the community

In the second half, Dr. Blake Bostick joins the conversation to highlight the exciting fall season at the Heindl Center for the Performing Arts. From the farewell tour of country legend John Michael Montgomery (with his son Walker Montgomery) to performances by Home Free, Ricky Skaggs, and Postmodern Jukebox, Dr. Bostick outlines a lineup filled with world-class entertainment. He also shares insights on community partnerships like the DeSoto Family Theater production of Newsies, upcoming film screenings, and a preview of the Spring 2026 season. With flexible ticket options and unique cultural experiences, the Heindl Center continues to be a hub for arts and entertainment in North Mississippi

To close the program, Gary recaps the latest in Northwest athletics. The women’s soccer team extended its winning streak to 30 straight matches, volleyball continues to compete at a high level despite a recent loss, and the football team prepares for a key showdown against Northeast Mississippi.
